Very sorry about your cousin, I cannot imagine how stressful that must have been. It seems like you have a great application outside of your MCAT. Adcoms have generally recommended those with a 496 to retake and hold off on applying based on previous threads. Considering the circumstances and your high GPAs, I think you could do really well on the January retake. A score above 500 would put you in a much better spot and would be competitive for a lot of DO schools.

For a proper analysis, you should complete a WAMC (What are my chances) template. We don't know your state of residence (as an example).
The DO school application cycle is more forgiving when it comes to applying at this time (end of September). Have you already submitted your AMCAS/AACOMAS?

I appreciate your kind words. Yeah, it wasn't great. Hindsight is always 20/20, I definitely should have voided. The only reason I didn't was because I already applied both AMCAS and AACOMAS and I thought I would score at worst 505ish if that makes sense.
I applied to some of the DO schools on my list. I'm now adding more schools because I think the MD schools I applied to are all donations at this point since Jan retake won't be accepted.
Very sorry to hear of your cousin. Your score is not competitive for any DO school.
Retake the test, but only when you are 100% ready for it. In hindsight, you should have not taken the exam.

You could receive interviews at some DO schools with your GPA of 3.98 but will need to include all the newer schools.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like DUQCOM requires a minimum 500 MCAT. So I'd avoid sending an app their way if you haven't already.

Don't think that new DO schools are open enrollment. They have to pass their initial accreditation, and that means having some quality in the students they accept and adhering to their stated minimums. Strong mission fit may help someone with subpar stats, but the stats will matter eventually.

Hi all, just wanted to update on my cycle. I've been extremely blessed to have had 4 interview invites so far, all DO. My earliest interview is in a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed!
