Where on my application on my ACCOMAS application do I put the following:
-extra-curricular activities
-health care experience(shadowing a physician)
Do I put it in the same box as all other volunteer work in hospitals and other places(such as mosque, or other UNICEF)?Problem is that this box only allows a maximum of 100 words or 700 characters

hi. i had similar questions when i was working on my app. i know there are lots of old posts lingering around about it but to sum up: most people i have talked to save shadowing for the secondary app and just mention thweir shadowing experiences in the PS of the AACOMAS. IN regards to extracurriculars it depends what type you are talking about. there is the section for volunteer experience/internships so alot of things fall under that, ie. tutoring, etc... then the other section is honors/awards...under this i put normal things and also poster presentations at conferences and my most important publications. As far as extracurriculars like sports, etc... i am not sure what poeple have done. i'm sure there are spots for that on secondary and would probably save it for that. hope this helps. if you have specific extracur. you were wondering about i can try and help further if u let me know. also, the space was very small so if u want to see example of how i fit everything let me know. 🙂

Or time volunteering at local food bank??
SO I should just mention on my primary accomas app that I have shadowed a D.O and M.D, but the specifics(such as specialty of physician, and time spent shadowing)should be written on secondary apps?? I want to mention this on my primary b/c this is the main clinical experience that I have.

Oh, and the mentioning of shadowing a physician should be in the same box as volunteer experience??

If shadowing is your main clinical experience, definately talk about it in your essay, but also if it is more imporant than other volunteer things you did, you could put it in there. As for food bank, put that under volunteer. If you have more than the space allowed, i would put only the most important to you. Student government i would put on secondary, again unless its something "better" than other volunteer,honor,award things you would put.
