Hey guys!

I just have a quick question for you. When writing your essays, do you include a bunch of your EC's even though you have them listed in the "15 things about you" portion? I've read a lot of sample essays, and it seems like people do this a lot...but I find it a tad redundant, since I just wrote two paragraphs about each EC right above the personal statement. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks!!!!!

In my activities section, I described what I did, but did not relate it to why I wanted to be a doctor or how it would help me on my path to become a doctor. In my personal statement, I talked more about their relevance to medicine, influencing my decision to pursue it and preparing me for that. So yes, I talked about a few in both places, but I did not talk about them in the same ways.

Are you talking about your PS or secondary essays. If it's your PS, you're supposed to explain why you want to be a doctor (how you came to the conclusion you want to be a doctor) - so if your EC's help explain this then add them in, if not, then don't. Same thing for secondary essays - if it helps answer the question then talk about them, if not, then don't. Don't use the essays to reiterate your EC's - the admissions committee are not idiots and they will probably see right through it 😳
