Your stats seem to make you competitive at most these school. I'd narrow by where you'd like to live for the next 4 years or more. When you look into it, you may decided that you would hate living in Minneapolis all winter long, or that Atlanta isn't quite your style.

I got rid of Albert Einstein...not sure of the Bronx, and Pritzker......average MCATs are 11's

I still have 30 schools....what would you guys recommend for me numbers wise?? I was thinking 20-25

maybe take out mayo, dartmouth, nyu, and emory?

Mayo is definitely my reach school.......my sister had retinoblastoma treatment there a few years ago, and I fell in love with the institution.

I also love Atlanta (Emory), and I have two friends at Dartmouth right now who are from Nebraska.

Does anyone know the MCAT averages of NYU??

Also, what would you guys consider a good number of schools for me to apply to?

Thanks again!!

Don't sell yourself short...keep a fair number of stretch schools. A 3.9 is great and you could suprise yourself and get above 11s on the MCAT...it will be too late to add schools at that point, so if spending a little extra cash doesn't sound terrible, I would keep your stretches.

Miami is the school on your list that is jumping out at me as not making any sense...maybe you have something that is drawing you to that school that isn't obvious from what you told us, I dunno.

You will get secondaries from most, if not all of these schools, so if you don't feel like sending back 30, try to trim it down. The way I did it was compare schools to my state schools. If I didn't think I would choose the school in question over my state school, I crossed it off the list. I was able to do this b/c my state school has a very high acceptance rate (comparatively!!!). I *think* Nebraska would be the same way, but I could be wrong.

Thanks to everyone!

Miami just sounds like a great place to live, and they do accept some out of state...although they prescreen with a 3.6 GPA for out of staters.

Finch and BU and Jefferson.

Finch = they're on probation and with your #'s you should apply for a reach, like Harvard, hey, who knows

BU & Jeff = too many linkage programs and stuff
