Today I asked my dentist to write me a reference letter, and guess what he said? He asked me to write a letter myself and bring it to him, then he will sign it for me...I have volunteered for him for almost a year, and I'm so dissapointed.....I think he is afraid of his lack of English skills...

Does any of you have a copy of your dentist's recommendation letter?? If there is one, could you please share it with me??

I can't believe this dentist asked me to write a letter myself...I mean..god...I really need some help guys. My email address is [email protected]

Please share with me the copy of your dentist's recommendation letter...
I would deeply appreciate it

thank you

Relax.. It probably means he doesn't know you well enough to write a good letter. You have almost 2 months till app becomes available... You could write one about yourself. I don't think it is a big deal.

nut up and write the damn letter yourself....this is a good opportunity

I worked as a leader and senior peer for international students for two years, and my supervisor even recommended me to the Student Leader Recognition Event.

Do you think it would be better to ask this person for a letter rather than my dentist?

I mean, does it look better to have a letter from dentist like no matter what?

Some schools require a letter from a dentist. Other than that, it would be better to ask your supervisor.

Don't the recommendations have to be from a professor or a dentist?

You definitely need one from a dentist, but I would still ask that supervisor for a letter. I turned in 4 letters to my committee (1 dentist, 2 profs, and one personal), and they were sent to schools along with the letter my committee put together. I think that a letter from that supervisor would be an excellent letter for you send in.

haha same thing happened to me. My dentist also asked me to write it myself. At first, i panicked too, but then i found it pretty advantageous for me to write my own LOR b/c i can put down some nice things about myself that my dentist may not know about. And i actually gave/made up specific examples to support my ideas. Of course my dentist proofread it and approved.

it is not that bad, just spend a couple mins to think about what you want to put in so the admissions committee can evaluate how good you are to a dentist.
