Hi,

I wanted to take the kaplan pcat prep course this summer but 1400 is over my budget. (rent and college are my money drains) Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get a discount?
Also..
Do you know about any free prep. classes for low income student? Or programs with scholarships for pcat prep.?

I'd appreciate your help.Thanks!

Just buy the Kaplan book! It's 25 bucks and it's the same material they use in the course. Save some dough here.

I second that charfdorn.
If you don't get the kind of score you would like, you're only out the cost of the PCAT and $25 and you can then dish out $1400 for the course.

I agree with the others that you would be better off studying on your own but if you really want to take the Kaplan course, in my pharmacy club they mentioned that Kaplan has financial aid that makes the course cost $700 for qualifying students. Our president said that the information was hard to find and they don't just come out and tell you about it. Try calling them and asking about it to see if you qualify for a discount.

I second the recommendations to just buy the Kaplan book for $25-$30.

I attend UMKC and they offer PCAT prep classes sponsored by the school (not through or by Kaplan) that are at much lower prices than the Kaplan course. I believe the one offered at UMKC runs approx. $300. It meets for 5 or 6 Saturdays. All course and study materials are provided with that fee.

So I would suggest checking with your school or advisor to see if they offer something similar if you're really set on taking some sort of course instead of just learning out of a book.

The Online self study is currently $1050. I dont think there is anything special about the Kaplan class. You just need practice tests and just seek help in areas you are not strong in. You just have to be motivated.
