hi all,
I'm a Canadian just beginning to start applying to a few US dental schools. I'm stuck with some questions that I cant find answers to so please help me out.
1. I was in BSc O chemistry program for a couple of yrs then transferred to business school and been in it for 2 yrs... seeing as there's not much hope in biz for me, I want to apply to dental schools. I still dont have a degree in biz yet (probably 1.5-2 more yrs). What kind of schools would consider applicants without a degree? I have all the prereqs.

2. What is the appropriate time to finish my AADSAS application? Some of the things required (LOR for example) I cannot get until I return to school in Sept. Can I still complete my application and send in the required documents in later?

3. Canadian DAT can only be written twice a yr (Feb, Nov). is it going to be too late for me to write on in Nov?? Can I still complete my application without writing DAT??

My GPA fluctuated so much, 3.6 - 3.3 - 2.7 - 3.7. How bad does this look? and what kind of DAT scores do you think I'll need?

Any other comments/feedbacks greatly appreciated. Thanks~

1. If you apply now, and obtain your degree before you matriculate you should be OK for the most part. Otherwise, there are a few schools that will accept without, but you have to be pretty darn competitive to get accepted.

2. The current cycle just started around 10 days ago. Start filling up application right now and you should still be considered early. Schools won't view your application as completed until everything is in, which includes your LOR as well. Therefore, not sending them until September would make a late application.

3. Yes, and yes. Again, your application is not considered complete until you finish your DAT score.

thanks a bunch, it looks like I won't be completing my application until Dec/Jan next yr as the DAT score won't be made until that time. Is this considered 'too late'?
Do majority of applicants apply early? If I apply in Dec/Jan, would it greatly reduce my chance of being admitted?
Maybe I should skip this cycle and apply next cycle with a degree coming 🙁
