This may seem like over kill, but I started off just like you not really understanding how to mentally unfold the paper and doing poorly in this section (it's okay!! you will figure it out). I started off by literally cutting out a piece of paper folding it and hole punching it to mentally see how it would unfold. This really helped me and now it's my easiest section on the DAT (for me at least) and I almost always get 15/15

A stack of large sticky notes and a real holepuncher will help you a lot on this section. The sticky notes are helpful because they come in a square size so you don't need to cut it yourself.

too bad we cant bring a holepuncher and sticky notes to the actual test.

There's a video on youtube that outlines a hole-punching strategy. I used to be about a 80% type on them, but since I watched the video I have literally not missed a single one. It works for 1/3 folds as well. I'm probably perfect on 8 or so tests with it. Just search it on youtube. Takes 10 minutes to learn.

also anyone know a good video for the daunted 1/3rd folds.

use the line of symmetry method on youtube!! helped me a lot..i dont miss a single question anymore when i practice CDP/Achiever..once you get the method down it will be a breeze for you

Yes, watch the youtube video 2-3 times and you'll definitely improve on your hole punching!! I don't miss a single question of hole punching now! 🙂 its probably my best section on the PAT... TFE and pattern folding is still killing me though 🙁

I bought a hole puncher. When I had trouble with a question, I would fold the paper and punch the holes myself. I did that until I understood the folds. That was last summer. Now I am getting 14/15 - 15/15. Give it a shot. Good luck.
