Hey Guys, I have a question and some favors to ask of you...
I just submitted my AACOM app last thursday ( i know i'm kinda late), but my gpa is a 3.5 and i got a 25 on the mcat...i applied to 16 schools, so hopefully i'll get interviews. i was wondering, do you think i should have my LOR's sent to the schools right now even though i haven't received secondaries yet just so my application doesn't get delayed further...also, do you guys know if all schools have essays to write, or do some schools just have you fill out some more personal information for the secondary...i was thinkin about possibly contacting the schools and ask them for the secondary essays so that way i can prepare all of them and have them all ready by the time i get secondaries so i don't wait even longer... what do you guys think? do you guys think that i still have a shot of getting interviews given my grades/scores and timewise?

Some schools post their secondary applications on their website, so you can start working on it to get a head-start just in case you get a seondary request.

I know that COMP and UMDNJ post theirs on the website.

You should wait. They are not going to look at them if your secondary application isn't there. You can send them out as soon as you get their secondary application.

You have to write an essay. Two of the most encountered ones are: (1)Why DO schools and (2) Why our school?

There were two threads started earlier in the application cycle that has all the questions included in the secondary application for most schools. Look at those first. If you couldn't find the specific school(s) you're looking for, let me know or ask on here.

I think you'll be fine. Your numbers are above average for quite a few schools. You'll definitely get a couple, if not more, of interviews.

Personally I would send LORs now. It will be one less thing to wait for. Even if LORs are sent express it takes time to get into your file or worse it may never appear in your file. Once the schools receive anything from you they start a file.

Please attach a brief statement indicating why you wish to become an osteopathic physician. Indicate specific reasons why you want to attend PCOM

UNECOM
In the space below, present a written statement telling why you wish to become an Osteopathic Physician, why you wish to attend the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, and any additional information you feel the College should know about you in order to aid the Admissions Committee in evaluating your application.

What particular qualities do you feel you can bring to UNECOM?


UMDNJ
Please discuss your preparation for medical school, both academic and non-academic. Describe both strengths and weaknesses associated with your preparation for medical school. Please use the back of this page or attach a separate sheet of paper if additional space is needed.


LECOM
Explain or describe any clinical and or health related experiences you have had, include extracurricular school and community activities


Write a personal essay describing yourself and qualities you possess which will make you a successful osteopathic physician

NYCOM
only sends out secondaries to those they invite for interviews. First batch of interview invites should go out around the first week of November.

If you are applying to 16 schools then starting early on secondaries is a good idea. Luckily some of the questions are repetitive. Good luck.
