Alot of pharmacy schools ask if you have ever had a misdeameanor--and I've been checking no--but I remembered that back when I was 16 years old, I was caught with cigarettes in my purse, and was given a ticket (minor in possession I think)--and pled guilty and had to do community service--should I be mentioning this to the schools? Is it a big deal? Will it hurt my chances of getting in to a pharmacy school? :scared:

Well I'm pretty sure that your record is cleared if you did not get arrested again in a 6 month period. You should be alright I would think. If you want to mention it, go ahead. Maybe they'll like your honesty, but it is not a big deal either way. I think it's kind of funny that they would put you through all that trouble over a pack of cigarettes. You must live in a small town or something.

Smoking is digusting.

Smoking is digusting.

I quit smoking--I've been smoke free for over 2 years--NOT that it matters--but it was very difficult to do--but I am very proud of myself for doing so..

However, to be honest--I really think your comments are rude, and uncalled for--I think you are honestly being an dingus--I have watched you make so many rude comments to so many other people--why don't you grow up and stop being so negative and cruel to people?

Are you going to tell your customers in the pharmacy you work at that they are gross for smoking?

Are you going to work in a clinical pharmacy and tell those dying of lung cancer that they are stupid? I hope not--yes, smoking IS gross-I don't disagree with that--but it's like you enjoy pissing everyone off--or degrading them--get a life..😡

You can't possibly understand what's it's like to be a smoker unless you have been addicted to something..

I asked for advice on whether or not I should mention the ticket--NOT an opinion on whether or not it is gross or not.

"dinguses are cheap today--cheaper than yesterday..."

Yes, I do live in a small town--where they had nothing better to do than TRY to find something on me to write a ticket for--see, I told them they couldn't search my purse--and that they needed a warrant to do so--which from what I understand (and I could be wrong)--that that's the law!? But I just plead guilty..it wasn't a big deal--it's cigarettes, not weed, etc. 😉

Thanks for your response! 😀

You wanna chill out? I was just saying my opionion that "I" think smoking is digusting. Did I ever say "RX girl I think you're digusting for smoking?" No, never. Learn to read and stop making assumptions.

Yeah because I'm not a ****** to try anything like that, obviously you are. :[

Yeah I'm a ******--and you are an dingus--I would rather be ******ed than an dingus to others ANY day of the week..Maybe my response was overboard--but your comment had NOTHING to do with what I was asking--I think you enjoy pissing people off--I think you are a TROLL...

And this is to the moderators/other members of this forum--can anyone else PLEASE give me an opinion as to my original question--because this entire thread has gone completely OFF TOPIC--which was not my intention--again--should I mention the misdemeanor or not!?

Thank you!

Well, since you were a juvenile, I doubt that it would show up on your record. If you want to check, I'm sure your local PD could run a police report on you to see if it shows up. I really don't think that you have anything to worry about though. 😉

Okay--thanks so much for your responses--I will call the police depart. later to see what they say! Thanks again! 🙂

Yes it is, but its fun.

smoking is most fun when you've been drinking.
but i've also tried to quit smoking and have not had one since september, after i esubmitted my pharmcas.

This thread is way off topic

Should you mention it?
No. i don't think so. I don't think the crime was serious enough to be a misdemeanor right? i'm unclear on my law stuff, but if you went to court, and they said it was a misdemeanor, then yes, tell them. Even though it was a small crime, the question is "did you ever have a misdemeanor?" and you should tell them the answer is yes. Leave it up to the school to decide how serious it is. When you tell them yes, you had a misdemeanor, they're still going to give you a chance to explain what happened.

Nobody's perfect, and sometimes people do stupid things when they're younger. if you can show that you've grown and matured since then, I would like to think they would disregard it.

(not trying to say that YOU did something stupid when you were younger, just people in general)

Good Luck, let us know what you decide to do and how it plays out, i'm sure this will come up for other people. Cheers

Thank you so much! I will be honest about it--I really don't think it's too big of a deal anyway--things could be much worse! 😉

Yeah - you were 16. If you don't remember the particulars....ask your folks.

Now...when you have to mention it...try to turn in into a positive!

What did you learn then from the experience (probably teenage rebellion). But..what did you learn later on reflection? How easy it is to get sucked into the advertising? How difficult it is to quit an addiction? How hard it is to change behaviors?

These are all things pharmacists help with when someone comes to us with help choosing nicotine issues.

Make this a positive experience!!!

Good luck!

just to ease your mind, I received a citation for being a minor in possession of alcohol at age 20....anyways, I did a search through the michigan (where I got the ticket) gov't website and paid $10 for a background check of myself; it didn't show up, but I was honest anyways and answered 'yes' to the question on my app., I was then required to explain the offense via email and I received a reply stating that it would not be counted against me when being considered for a seat @ the school I'm applying to.

Thank you all for your replies--and I'm sorry I "fed" the troll so to speak--but I tend to call people out when they are being rude--However, I honestly wasn't sure he was a troll at first--because when I looked at his past posts--he seemd to be genuine!? Oh well--if it helps--you can delete this entire thread--because I really don't want to--and never intended to stir up any trouble--promise.

So, if one of the moderators could delete this thread--that would be preferable--I have all the info. I need now--I am going to be honest about it--and mention that I have quit smoking--and mention what I have learned from the experience--thanks to everyone who responded to the original question! 😀
