does it matter where you went to college for your undergrad?...ive heard that some schools are "harder" than others and so it can affect gpa. is this true? and if so, do adcoms know this and take it into consideration?

The question about whether adcoms care about where your pre-reqs are taken, really depends on the school. Some schools will state on their websites that they look at the "quality of the institution" that the pre-reqs were taken. However, other schools do not take into consideration where the courses were taken.
