Hey guys,

I took the DAT today and Im really nervous if I will be able to get in this cycle.

Here are my stats
TS: 20
Academic average:19
PAT:24

Bio:19
Orgo:22
Gen chem:19
RC:16
QR:17

Science GPA 3.85
Total GPA 3.2

I did go onto predents.com but I didn't find a person who was close to my stats, science, and total GPA.

I would say the only thing that's troublesome is the RC, but besides that everything looks real good.

Some schools have cutoffs for scores below 17. Save cash and research what ones enforce this rule.

Thanks guys...
I called up the schools that I wanted to apply for but most of them said they do not have a min cut off score.

I must say i have never seen a combination of numbers like that before in my life...quite interesting

Yeah your RC and total GPA are a little low, but you prolly have a good shot. Perhaps your extra-curriculars and LOR will help you out?

Why is your science GPA so much higher than your overall? Did you major in a science or just take the necessary science pre-reqs? I think you still have a very good shot at getting interviews; as was mentioned before, the only thing that may hinder you is that low RC score.

4th Molar I noticed you give people a ton of advice. I'm assuming you've probably been through the process, are you a dental school student or a practicing dentist? You seem to know a lot about the application process.

I was a media studies major in college. I finished most of my science pre-reqs after graduation.

In the summer of 2008, I took Bio 1, Chem 1 and Chem 2.
Fall of 2008 I took Physics, anatomy and physio, and organic chem 1.
Spring of 2009 I took Bio 2 and organic chemistry 2.

I will be finishing physics during the summer session 2 this year.

Haha, I wish I was a dentist. Unfortunately I've been through the application process a couple of times without success, so I've been able to talk to a number of adcoms at different schools and get their insight and advice, so I'm just relaying that information back here to help those who were in similar situations and make sure they don't make the same mistakes I did and waste time.
