I just got my MCAT result back and I did terrible (believe it or not I scored over 30 when I took the test at home). Anyways, my GPA is 3.2 and MCAT 17, PLEASE HELP me choose a Caribbean medical school that I have a chance getting in, and their degree are valid here in the US.

I have no problem having this discussion with you after you re-take the MCAT. The 17 MCAT is low for the top 4 Carib schools SGU, Ross, Saba, AUC. Their average MCAT is middle-20's. Also, it sounds like you may need to work on your studying skills. This is impt in med-school. Re-assess what went wrong on the MCAT, study again, apply to US MD, US DO, then LASTLY when you've written the MCAT at least 3x, I'll be more than happy to entertain this discussion with you... OK?

P.S. I'm a Carib grad...but here to help and give you the BEST advice friend...Also, I'd be happy to discuss with you studying strategies, feel free to PM me or speak publically...

G'luck,
A

definitely take time out to study for the mcats and retake them. do a lot of practice tests as well so you can see what your steady score is. maybe the 30 was a fluke or maybe the 19 was the fluke. try to bump up your score to a 25 at least and you'll have a better shot at auc or ross. the top 3 caribbean schools are auc, ross, and sgu...they are accredited in all 50 states. good luck.

Are you on the payroll? Or is this like an ego thing you got going on? I can't help but notice how every post you keep stating the top 3 are blah, blah, blah...seriously wants to make me puke! Let's give objective advice here instead of cheerlead for our schools....christ!

Let me tell y'all one thing. I attend a "top 4 Carib medschool" (my defn is broader although some would say I attend the Harvard of the Carib) & let me tell y'all they are all the same $hi@t! I worked hard for my grades and usmle scores NOT my school...these schools are like a funnel. You may get in, but once you're in, it's a fight and challenge to stay in, those that make it through are the ones that deserve that MD...if you're a weak student going in, it's not WISE to go to any Carib school, period. Bad decision, go be a PA/NP!

Sorry JackMD, just got to keep it real, apologies if I was tough on you above, but I know the system inside out as a 4th year now and I like to stay objective and give the best advice possible to ppl. If you ask me would I go to the Carib again, I would say I'm blessed to be where I am and happy to get that MD in a few months, but I would not do it, unless it was my last resort...and for many going to the Carib it's not...

I think it's good to mention schools by name. for example only SGU, AUC, SABA and Ross allow you to practice in all 50 states. So those schools should be distinguished from other carib schools, that aren't approved in all 50 states and have much much lower admission standards and graduation standards. The reason the top schools remain top schools is because they simply won't accept you based on your credit report. And have set checks during the school years to make sure you'll succeed on both the USMLE's and the Match, other schools to my knowledge don't have that, and thus their USMLE pass rates are terrible and as a result Match rates. So mentioning those schools by name is a good thing in my opinion. And why not have some school spirit and cheerlead for your school, if you had a great time and got out of it exactly what you wanted why not let others know about it?

Ya, RJ, agreed. While you remain objective and mention all 4 based on exactly those merits, the other individual did not and that was my point...I'm sure it was not intentional, I was raising a point of concern...

did you take the practice test under timed conditions? how many practice tests did you take, and which company made those tests? Just curious as to how your score dropped that much...was it the VR section that hurt you?
