Hi all,

I took my step 1 in Aug after a year of on/off studies and I failed!! (121/61)!!!!!!

I watched Kaplan Vid and did DIT alongside with Goljan. I also did NBMEs on which my avg score was 220 and I did the 2 Uworld self assessment also on which my avg was 220. I did well on the Uworld q banks. I wasn't expecting anything below 200!! Now I am devastated, shocked and lost!!! I don't know should I continue Med and take this exam over again or take up some other path! Please pour in your opinion!

that score is just as unlikely as >275ish. In fact, OP, I think you can spin it to say you are a genius because even random guessing would likely get you a better score. As a result you had to know you were putting the wrong answers because, in fact, you knew the correct answer the whole time! Just trying to see how low you could go.

Mean score is appox. 220. SD is ~20.

You cited a score nearly 4-5 SDs below mean.

1 in 147,160 people will be outside 4.5 SDs.

1 in ~300,000 people will be below 4.5 SDs.

Assuming ~50,000? people take step 1 a year.

A 121 would only show up one every 6 years.

If it is true, I am sorry but please quit now.
