I have a brother who was diagnosed with a tumor in his brain a few weeks ago. I want to tell my parents, but I promised him not to tell my parents. He wanted to do it himself. However, he said he won't tell my parents any time soon. If you were in my shoes, what will you do? I will be in medical school, but not yet. So I don't really know much about how serious the situation is. I know early treatment is always the best course of action, but a promise is a promise. Please help, thanks.

Wow, that sucks. What a crappy situation. I think you know what the right thing to do is. In the famous words of Normal Schwarzkopf, You always know the right thing to do, the hard part is doing it.

Think about it this way. Put yourself on the other side of everyone involved in the situation. Then, look at it from a present and a future tense. After doing that, you will know what the right thing to do is. Now, do it.

Reading this post, I have to wonder how old you are, and consequently, how old your brother is. I hope everyone considers this before they start answering.

Good luck to you. Crappy situation, hard choice, I hope everything works out okay.

Unfortunately, this is not the appropriate place for this type of question. Medical and/or psychological advice or counseling is best received from professionals. That is where you need to go.
