hey guys 2 important and quick questions i need answers to quick. please help. this is important for me to figure out now (really i have to figure it out now as in very soon) and i been stressin on it.

1) in applying to pharmacy school...what is considered applying "early"...what is considered apply "average/ontime" and when is considered applying late? i know different schools have different deadlines but can you give time frames in months? please. thank you.

2) also....do you think its a bad idea to retake chem 2 and do organic 1 at the same time?

2) also...what science classes should one at LEAST have to apply to pharm school. all i have so far is biology 1, biology 2, chemistry 1 and gen chemistry 2. i have other some non sciences course done like public speaking and calcus and all general education requirements...but not all the science classes and not economics and statistics.

please please please help. thank you x one million.

3. Physics 1 and 2 with lab, calculus, biochemistry is required for some schools, a year of organic chemistry with lab, microbiology with lab, anatomy with lab and physiology with lab are required by a lot of schools - almost all I am applying to. Hope this helps. :luck:

thank you cheb 🙂...i kno u dont have to have all your science class done buuuttt when i apply but what should i at least have? does it look bad to apply to school with only having bio 1/2 and chem 1/2 and public speakin and calculus (i also have other gen education classes and major classes done 2)? should i at LEAST have organic chem one to apply? :-(

You should aim to have at least the first semester of the year long courses done - such as organic 1, anatomy 1, and either physics OR micro. You don't have to have the first semester done before you apply because you update pharmcas during the academic update window during late December which will have your grades for these classes then sent to the schools you're applying to. The second semesters of organic and anatomy are virtually 'hidden' from schools as far as the application process goes since you will already be accepted or rejected when grades are released in May, provided you pass them or the school may have a clause in their application such as Purdue where you can only receive so many C's.

2. You should be able to retake Chem 2 and Ochem 1 at the same time if your school allows it. The chemistry is different so you should be able to do fine in organic even if you are redoing general. As long as you don't think that it would be too much for you to handle, there shouldn't be a problem.

1. I guess (but it definitely depends on the school of course):
Average early would be between July and Middle or End of August
Average Ontime would be August -December
Average Late would be End of December - March
Average "thank you for your money .. But try again next year without even looking at your pkt. we will throw this in the trash with a huge smiley face" April - June

2. I think if you did chem2 you need to have that class be the hardest class that semester. the same with organic. But if you feel you can handle the pressure go for it. You will be studying a lot though with no social life.... EVER.

3. General Pre-pharmacy Science Classes: You should have 3/4 of these completed when you apply. you should only have about 1 class - 2 classes left and finish before May 2009.

Organic I / II with labs
Physics I / II with labs
General Chemistry I / II with labs
Anatomy and Physiology I / II with labs
General biology I / II with labs
Immunology
Microbiology w / Lab
Genetics
