OP, I agree that this thread will be low yield. You may get some good info, but it will be extremely difficult to compare the schools based on this info.

1. DO schools generally don't do any significant research.
2. I've visited the Western and Nova campuses. Both are in good locations. They are a short drive from many nice places. However, Nova's campus is a million times better (maybe a gajillion times). Western's campus is poop on a stick.
3. I don't think Touro NY has graduated a class yet, but the other four match well in whatever specialty. I'd think more about where you want to rotate third and fourth year and ultimately do residency, which goes back to location.
4. I would consider a school's reputation within the parameters of how established they are.

#5. I'd consider cost, curriculum, attendance policy, dress code, setting up rotations yourself vs having rotations set up for you, the quality of facilities, the student atmosphere, the student quality, the faculty quality, recorded lecures, notes service, student organiztions...and hot chicks. Does the school have an abundance of hot chicks. Nova wins hands down in that category. They are therefore DO school #1


My advice is to stop worrying for now until interviews come. You'll get a better feel for the school when you visit it.

Why are premeds so obsessed with rankings? There aren't any true rankings or school that is "better" in the DO world. Everyone can make their case for their own school, but in the end it is personal preference. The only way I'd go to NYCOM is if you paid me. That is the same with Western. They are nice schools but I rather gouge my eyes out than live near L.A. or on Long Island. Go interview at the schools you get invites from and create your own ranking. There is really NO benefit of finding out what strangers on the internet think of the school.

Some schools do. It just isn't a big priority for many osteopathic schools. Not their mantra. There are a lot of MD schools that don't put out tons of research either. Some places just want to put out solid clinicians and let others worry about bench science and what not.
