Hey guys,

Please give me your idea of where I stand given the following:

Here is my status:

Biology degree - graduated: 1996
Overall GPA undergrat: 3.74
Science GPA: 3.9
MD degree and all USMLE's passed (changing careers...)
2 years of dental assisting and other dental knowledge-related experience
AADSAS application submitted 1 week ago
Great Letters of Recommendation from undergrat professors
Great Personal Statement
Applied to 12 schools:

AZ,BU,HOW,MEH,NSU,TEMP,COL,UK,UL,NJDS,UMKC,USC


Given my status, do you think that if I do decent on the DAT at the end of October (2007), that I still have a chance of getting accepted to any of the above schools for 2008?

Appreciate any comments or suggestions.

Yes. That's pretty late, but with those stats, you still have a shot at getting accepted.

the only thing that comes to mind is that some schools require prereqs to be completed within the last 5 years, but since you have an MD degree, I have a feeling they would waive it.

why are you leaving med, rather than.. um doing a surgery residency, then OMF fellow? Is it your board score? cuz as a resident you would at least be getting paid

I think your biggest challenge will be to explain why after getting a medical degree why you are now choosing dentistry.....unless you are interested into going into OMF. It may even more difficult if you had been out in a medical practice for awhile. Why would a 1hotdoctor now want to be a 1hotdentist?
