I'm aim for 23 on the DAT.....!!

Are you from New York or another state?

It's really hard to say w/o DAT scores. Your GPA is definately below that of the average applicant, so it's extremely important you get at least 20s across the board on that test. Assuming you get 20s your list seems pretty good. You must be a NY resident, if not than add your state schools. For Meharry and Howard, unless you're from an extremely disadvantaged background and can demonstrate your willingness to work in underpriveleged areas, don't waste your money there. Don't be fooled by their low stats and think of them as your backup plan. Being asian won't help you there. Penn will be difficult w/ your GPA but having a few long shots is worth it. I'd say if you can get 23 on the DAT like you want (AA and TS), then you should be able to get into NYU for sure.

If you are a NY Stater then you should have a shot at either Buffalo or Stony Brook with a DAT 23.

If I were you I would apply at UNLV as well. When I interviewed there they said they were trying to recruite as many asians as possible. It sounded like they would take a lot but they don't seemto applyto UNLV.

Another idea is that you could take a bunch of science classes this year and pull abunch of A's in them. Right now your sci GPA / overall GPA could affect you the most. If you can pull that up it will help a lot. Also scoring high on the DAT is definetly going to help as you already know.

if you can, you should definitely try and take a couple more classes and pull up your GPA. That should bring you to a safe side especially when you get a good DAT score.

I replaced Marray and howard with Louisville and UNLV... Yes, I'm NY resident.
How is this look?? better???

USC, Marquette, Detroit Mercy

Midwestern and the new school opening in CA in 2009 (is it called Western U?)

But the really like asians...
The dean mentioned that when I was there too. Seemed kind of odd b/c it's not like the US is short in asian dentists. Maybe UNLV just wants to be more diverse and they can't understand why so few asians apply there. I think there was only 2 on my interview date, out of 25 or so people. It would probably be worthwhile for the OP to include UNLV but only if he/she can get that high DAT score.

I am asian and I applied there!

But I got no love from UNLV. 🙁

Hopefully the OP will have much better luck than me.
Sorry to hear that, when I was there Dr. Ancajas said they would basically take any asian that applied if they had average stats. Maybe its just all talk.

Just a few years, you would have been good candidate. In considering about a PhD program and searching for journal articles, I found one that might be of interest to pre-dents. BTW Asians are overrepresented in almost all graduate and professional programs, unless you fit a special subset- Pacific Islander, etc.

I am an Asian but I got rejected last year.
I called them and they said my GPA weren't competitive enough.
They said their avg GPA was 3.4
They had to eliminate a lot of good applicants.
Hahhhhhhh, I was so depressed!!
However, I would LOVE to go there!!!😍
