Hi,

I just flipped through this book called "Humor in Pharmacy" by Cliff Thomas, R.Ph. Unfortunately, I didn't find it very funny.

This is a serious question I guess. Does going into pharmacy make pharmacists boring people? Sure, there's the challenge of prescribing the right medications and dosages and such, but do you guys find yourselves getting more and more boring (I'm guessing repetitive work can possibly do that)? Does this affect your relationships with significant others, friends, etc.?

I'm a kind of disgruntled hick whose opinion is a few points from the mean, so don't take it as gospel.

I've found the reality to be the opposite of what you think. Actually, it drives you to use your creative powers in your personal life and people like you more. I've had many, many people tell me that I've aquired a wicked sense of humor since starting pharmacy school.

You know this will cause offense to tons of people, too, right?

1 year into real pharmacy and I am able to separate notice some differences. a couple of the preceptors i have had were quite interesting. I can't even explain what made them different.

Some of the people in my class are already like this so who knows....

Pharmacists aren't boring. They're all down right weird. Just kidding. Anyone doing anything can be boring. Even a circus clown probably gets bored. In fact, I'm bored typing this so I'll stop.

I think I'm getting more boring and socially ******ed as each week of pharmacy school goes by. I'm going to be a freak by graduation.

I'm not sure how to take this - are you implying that Phi Dex is boring? 😎 Maybe I'm a bit sheltered, but I've seen more at some of the Phi Delta Chi parties in the last month than I did all throughout college (I'm not a huge partier, though). But Phi Delta Chi is the only pharmacy frat at ISU - it's actually the only frat at ISU that has it's own house.

This is Hell Week. 😱 Getting initiated on Friday.

Its funny how at my school all the KY's took an extra year to graduate😀 . Phi Del partied all the time and still made it through in 4 years. I think at least half of KY memebers were either kicked out of school or were held back. HEHEHEHE.
