Some things about me. I'm a Asian male. I'm currently doing undergraduate work at a California JC and plan to transfer to UCLA or Berkeley. Please, tell me if you think I'm on track or if I'm somehow screwing up. btw, I plan to either take the rest of my lower div sciences at the UC or in a post bacc at some prestigious school.

Overall units completed excluding this current quarter: 105.5 quarter units or 70.3333 semester credits

Overall gpa: 3.85ish

major: math or applied math with a possible interest in pre-med/pharm/opt

ECs: 3 quarters tutoring math. Co-President of the math club since fall 07. Participant in the engineering club

No organic chemistry or biology beyond general bio??

You may want to take those

Your extracurriculars are lacking in pharmacy experience.

Yeah, I'm planing to start after I transfer. And I only going to take science at the 4yr.

Any other thoughts?

You mentioned pre-med/pharm/opt... You really should narrow it down and decide what you'd like best. If pharmacy was your last choice and you winded up in that, I'm not sure that I'd feel good about you handling my medications.

Well it sure is great you are a math major, however, you aren't really on track with your pre-reqs. You need to concentrate much more on biological/chemical sciences. Majority of pre-reqs for pharm/med school are biology, not even chemistry pre-reqs. So you still have a lo of classes left to take besides a year of general bio : microbiology with lab, physiology with lab, anatomy with lab. Even biochemistry is requred for some schools and in n order to take it you would have have to finish your general chem and organic chem first - which you haven't taken.

Like I said it's great that you are majoring in something other than chemistry and biology like most applicants, however, the downfall of that is that you are at a disadvantage of being behind.

If I was you I'd ease up on non-science and major related courses which can be taken any time and start thinking more about pre-reqs.

that B+ in english is screwing you up big time! should retake!

You're in pretty good shape, but I would get a few Bio and Chem classes out of the way before you plan to apply (which would probably be your senior year at a 4 year college). You might also want to do it early so you have time to prepare for the PCAT.

Wow, retake English? I had B on mine should I retake it too?

he's being sarcastic.

To the OP: You need to start taking your Bio courses, and while pharmacy school don't require you to take that many, there are additional classes you have to take in order to take the pre-req classes. Somewhere down the line, try to get some letter of rec's from the professors you've gotten A's in. Do it now, at a JC/CC, these professor are easy to approach.

In terms of taking your science classes at a 4 year university. I would spread them out. You don't have to take them all at a 4 year university, and you obviously don't have to take them all at a JC either. Alot of my friends, ended up taking their science requirements at both 4-year and at JCs to bring up their gpa's. I took all my science courses at a JC and I don't regret it at all, since I pulled off a 3.9 and had no problems getting accepted to the pharm. school of my choice.

I totally agree... That A- in English 1 is going to look really bad too... Should definitly retake. Lol I can't believe you actually got someone with that man...
