"Please write a short essay"

I am applying for an internship and need to write a "short essay"

I could talk for pages on why I want to do this, what I can get out of it, why I am qualified etc. Usually I would put a whole bunch of fluff in it, but I can honestly talk for a long time on this one.

What do you guys recommend for the length?
