im a fresmen attending the college of saint rose. im only in to the first semster and i think i getting of to a bad start concerning the pre reqs for pharmacy. math is not my strong suit. im currently not taking one. i know for the pre reqs calc 1 & 2 is required. but i have a feeling i will have to take college algebra before hand in order to not bomb that course. is this a big set back? can i recover from this in the near future?

im also doing this american city program and im not sure if it was a good decision because the only science class i have is BIO 190 and Bio lab. the rest are a bunch of liberial art classes. what prereqs did you take fresh men year? should i have taken more? my friends that wants to be a doctor is taking bio and chem right now and calc next semester. 😱
i just feel like im totally behind every thing.
i really need some guidance.
pls tell me what to do 🙁

A lot of schools don't require calculus 2. I mostly see calculus 1 and statistics. Statistics is a lower level math than calculus (according to the course number at the university I went to), but I did worse in it.

My first semester for pre-req I had general chemistry, general chemistry lab, calculus, and English composition.

well im doing bio and bio lab
but no english comp. just literature :/ and idk when ill be taking calc. do you think taking college algerbra before hand is necessary since im not good at math or will it set me back even more? since i should already be doing 4 pre reqs but are only doing 2? 🙁

You will need 'intermediate algebra' for calculus but not college algebra. Calculus problems start off as calculus but quickly turn into an algebra problem that you will need to simplify. It is really not that much more difficult though so don't let the class title give you anxiety. You will also probably need pre-calc and/or trigonometry depending on what your school asks for. I didn't take a class that was pure pre-calc or trig..I took this combo class that my school offered and I felt a little disadvantaged with certain math concepts. Trig identities and graphing were a bit foreign to me.

The best advice I can give is get a tutor..and meet at least once a week when you are enrolled in math class. I am 'bad' at math too and I did well in calc. by working w/ a tutor 3x per week.

In terms of schedule, are you working towards your B.S.? If so I think you should have plenty of time to get your prereqs in.
