I have one doubt
in the decks it is mentioned that
-in a working side movment the mesiobuccal cusp of the maxillary 1st molar passes through the lingual groove of the mandibular 1st molar

and then in the second line it is mentioned that
- in a nonworking side movment the the mesiobuccal cusp of the maxillary 2nd molar passes through the buccal groove of the mandibular 2nd molar

is it something wrong or I am not able to understand?
plz help

ya, it doesn't make sense. The second statement is right. For the first one it will make sense if it's the ML cusp in working movement.

so in exam if qasked that mesiobuccal cusp of maxillary first molar passes through which groove of mandibular first molar during lateral working side movment then what should be the answer?

mesiobuccal groove or lingual groove?

what is the most abundant glycosaminoglycan in the body?

hyaluronic acid or chondritin sulfate?

MB cusp of max 1st molar passes through buccal (facial) groove of mand 1st molar during WORKING mvmnt. It does not go so far laterally as to ever pass through the lingual. The ML cup of max 1st molar would pass through lingual groove of mand 1st during working.

As far as the question about the NONWORKING mvmnt, maxillary buccal cusps do not pass through ANY grooves during nonworking mvmnts (unless there is crossbite). The same is true that mandibular lingual cusps don't pass through any grooves during nonworking. The only way that question can be correct is if they were talking about the path of the cusp of the opposite side of the mouth.

Just give it some more thought and you'll make sense of it. For my own reference, do you know what card # of the decks that question was?

thanx for the reply and explanation, I was thinking the same what you explainned but in some qs paper answer is lingual cusp for the mesiobuccal cusp of 1st maxillary molar for working side movment.
