DO I have a chance to get accepted in any dental school or should I retake the test?

Thanks

First of all, congrats on completing the DAT! Your scores are nice across the board. Your PAT is at the 17 subscore cut-off that most schools have. However, if you're looking at any school in particular, you should call/e-mail them and ask what their minimum PAT score is. Usually it's 16/17. Some schools may have higher requirements.

But to answer your question, I do think you have a shot at a number of dental schools.

Thanks for your honest opinion and comment. Do you think if I apply now and retake the test in 2 months and ask them to consider the new score help my situation? I do know I can improve my score (didnt know to study stats for math until I took the test , for example).

How many schools do you recommend I apply? I have no particular school in my mind.
Thanks

No problem at all! If you apply now and re-take the test in 2 months, you can definitely call the admissions office of the dental schools and let them know a new set of DAT scores will be coming in. They will put a note on your file letting adcoms know that a new DAT score will come through. That will definitely not be counted against you. I know plenty of people who applied with lower scores than yours and sent in new scores. After the new scores came in, many of them received interviews.

For dental schools in general, the rule of thumb is to apply broadly, and apply early. I've seen people apply to as little as 1 dental school, or as many as 12-15 schools. I recommend going the broad and early approach, as you will maximize your chances for interviews that way.
