hey guys

I need your help. I got wait listed in one of the southern state medical school rural track, I am from North, so I send a LOI to rural track Dean by express post. I just got a notice from post that he was not in his office so they left him a notice. He should either pick up the letter from post office or ask for redelivery. I do not know what to do. I really do not want him to waist his time and pick up my letter and then realize oh just a letter from an applicant . I sent him an email last night explaining what happened but no response yet. They keep my letter for 5 days then they return it , What do you guys think? What should I do?

🙁

I would just wait until the letter comes back to you and try again. It would probably be pretty annoying to have to go to the post office to pick up a letter from an applicant, and you don't want an adcomm member upset with you. Not that big of a deal....just resend the letter.

is it bad idea to ask the post for redelivery next week, I can ask them online?

Can you call the post office and ask them to return it to sender (you)? Then you can resend it non-certified mail. In the future it might be easier to send things regular post w/ tracking but waive the signature. Good luck!

If the poor English and grammar in your posts is any indication of what's in that letter, I'd say that your chances are best by NOT resending it. The post office did you a favor, let the matter drop for now. There will be waitlist movement at most schools later in the cycle.

Hopefully you know someone who can review in advance any letters you want to send.

Next time, just send it by regular mail. If someone needs to take the trouble to go to pick it up (thinking it's something important) and then finds that it's just a hounding letter from an applicant, that will be the end of your app cycle with that school.

I live in Canada, if I send it by regular mail, it will takes like 4 weeks and admission committee will meets in 2 weeks, I sent email to him explaining what happened and attached my letter o the email, I also ask for redelivery for January 12th, I hope that he will be in office, I have no choice,

Yes English is my second language, but my letter has been edited by professional editor,
