In regards to AACOM personal statement should I base my essay on why I am interested in osteopthic medicine or should I focus more on my interest in medicine in general. I've already spent a lot of time on AMCAS essay. Do you think I can use most of that essay for AACOM with some modifications or should I write another one from scratch? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm focusing on why i became interested in medicine. I'm adding onto it for the AMCAs personal statement, it seems to be easier to add than delete stuff, so I wrote the DO statement first

I used the same personal statement I used for AMCAS, just slightly modified (to fit the new character limit for AACOMAS). It all says why I would make a good doctor, I have nothing really on osteopathic medicine. From what I hear, in the secondaries, there seems to be a question in most that is along the lines of why osteopathic medcine so you can write why in the secondary.

I dont remember who told me but someone gave me the advice to add a little something on my personal statement about why I chose OSTEOPATHIC medicine in particular. I also used the same PS as I did for AMCAS but at the end I modified the last paragraph to talk about my osteopathic interests. Hope it works out =)

Yep. A lot of schools will ask this in the secondary application. Almost everyone gets asked "why DO" in their interview. You'll have the chance to answer it later, so there isn't really a reason to let it eat up the limited space in your PS now.

Yes they do ask you about that in secondaries and interview, however, for some schools you have to be screened to get to those stages and if you show interest in osteopathic medicine in your ps it could help you to get there.
