when 5 nerve is cut below medulla, wat happens?
loss of sensation of pain on same side
loss of sensation of pain on contralateral side
loss of proprioception on same side
loss of proprioception on contraleral side

plzz give an explanation to this .. not able 2 clear my concepts here

Let me quote a line from the Kaplan USMLE-
"Central processes from cells in the trigeminal ganglion conveying pain and temperature sensations from the face enter the brain stem in the rostral pons but descend in the spinal tract of CN V and synapse on cells in the spinal nucleus."
Well I guess the answer to this would be loss of sensation of pain on same side.
Any comments??

Isnt this LMN defect hence, contralateral side is affected ?
