I am thinking of doing a one month elective in anesthesia to do regional anesthesia, epidural catheter placement / management, and acute pain. I am in PM&R and applying for pain fellowships at the moment. This is something which interests me and would allow me to further my knowledge of nerves, anatomy and function.

The question is; are there any PM&R guys doing this? Would it make me more marketable to have this skill?

Yes. If you do an accredited fellowship you should have exposure to patients who will benefit from this type of care.

To do these in a hospital you will need a program director to say you've done enough to be competant at doing them and experienced enough to handle the complications. These will fall under anesthesia on most hospital applications so it would be up to the anesthesia dept to decide if you merit competing with them.
