Just curious as to others' thoughts regarding the field in general. I haven't been following the politics untill recently, but I have noticed a few things. One- it seems a common complaint is that the inservice exam is a hodge podge of info that really isn't tested in a well written format. some have compared it to the comlex? Is this worsening? Is this a sign that the field doesn't have good academic representation? Not sure what to make of this? Having stated this- what are the must have texts in the field- (ie) enjoyable reads that thoroughly cover the foundation?

Other thought- why do I keep hearing about the poor leadership in fellowship development (ie) pain, and the dropping the ball with sports (although as of 2007 sports is an ACGME fellowship) I understand?!

In general is the field adrift or just in serious need of leadership, whats the story?

Braddom or DeLisa. Though, I honestly can't say that either one of them is enjoyable to read.

The people who would make this happen have not been in charge. This is now changing, so I guess we'll see what happens over the next 5 years, though, I'm not sure we'll ever see the AAPMR/ABPMR embrace pain medicine. Not interventional pain medicine anyway.
