hi! could anyone tell me what the treatment would have been for a very small child (malnurished) suffering from pneumonia in the early 1990's???

Claforan or Rocephin IV and Erythromycin to cover atypicals.

For more serious illness... like in CF.. Piperacillin with Tobramycin.

Or Ceftazidime IV with Aminoglycoside.

For MRSA, add Vanco..

And a consult from clinical dietician to feed the child.

Ceftazidime IV has the oh-so-aromatic odor of cat pee. :barf:

Most Cephalosporins smell awful. Beta-Lactam ring is probably the culprit.
Ceftazidime seems to have the worst odor..cuz it emits gas as it's reconstituted.

You go around and sniff cat pee?
