General disclaimer since I'm dental anesthesia but as a total noob i have liked:

To carry on me:

1. Pocket Anesthesia (part of the pocket series)...it is great for a quick reference on the basics...from maintenance doses, to ekg interp, and even common spanish...prolly best handheld guide for true beginners

2. GasGuide App for smart phone...free app...has a ton of info and some good emergency stuff...it is STRICTLY the basics

In my locker I have for between cases

1. Mass. Gen...this is perfect for me since it gives the basics of what each surgery entails and some common untoward events to look for

2. Co-existing...great for the pre-op...you'll know exactly what to look for and how to plan the case

What is the Mass Gen book? Are you talking about MGH's Pocket Medicine?

I heard from one of my attendings that McGraw Hill is also coming out with one, called The Anesthesia Guide. It's suppsed to be pocket sized and also very good
