I have a quick question - What is the point of grade forgiveness if the admission committee can see your whole transcript and all the courses that you retook?

For example, I have a 2.94 and after Pos-bac I hope to get a 3.1, then with AACOM grade forgiveness I will have 3.3, but they can see all my repeated classes so they know that the 3.3 is really inflated!!!!

When you see avg gpa's on osteopathic school websites, is the avg gpa of admitted students the AACOM calculated gpa with grade forgiveness?

Also during the Interview, do the interviewers have in front of them all your transcripts from all the schools you went to or do they have a summary of just all the grades?

Thanks!

Yes, when you see a DO school's average GPA it is the GPA that AACOMAS sends to them, which includes grade forgiveness.

When you have been verified with AACOMAS, you can print out a copy of your application and see how all your classes and grades are listed. This is the same application that is sent to schools and during your interview this is what your interviewers will most likely be looking at. They will see that you retook classes and see your original grades.

Having the grade forgiveness is a way to not perminantly penalize you for screwing up once or twice in college. I think it's fair and it really boosted my GPA. 👍

Oh yes - I am happy that they have grade forgiveness!!!

Does the application that the interviewers have contain a list of all the grades and the school that class was taken at or is it just a list of all courses and grades?

Sorry if my quesions seem stupid, i'm new to this process.

Also, even though the adcoms see your transcript. Anything put in print (pamphlets telling GPA avg) or what may be used for funding for the school as far as GPA is concerned , will only have your GPA averaged in. Truly it is a win/win situation.

its not "inflated." you retook the course b/c you did poorly and you showed that you made significant changes in the way you approached the class and in the end you got a better grade...its not inflated. if they see you got a C- the first time, then took it the second time and got an A-......GREAT! its not like the A- is worth less or looked at differently b/c you did poorly the first time. at the most theyll ask you what happened and youll explain how you did better and what you did to change. at least thats how i imagine it would happen.

I think it lists classes by what year you were in school (freshman, sophomore, etc.) when you took them, but it also says what school the classes were taken at each semester.

I went to 3 different colleges and I remember all the classes I took at each college were grouped together. Does that make sense?

You'll get a better idea when you see the application after it's verified.

Good Luck! :luck:

Hey Guys, I am trying to make up my summer and fall schedule, and in order for me to finish up all my pre-req and take courses like biochem, genetics, It looks like I will have to go to 3 different Four year schools.

I know I initially said 2 schools but now it looks like three because PHYSICS II is not offered everywhere in the fall semester and Some schools dont offer Biochem or genetics in both semesters.

Sorry to keep asking same questions, but will this look bad even though they are all 4 year colleges??????

Has anyone else done this and got rejected from schools by taking post bac at 3 different schools even though they got A's?

I have five transcripts. Two are postbac. Didn't hurt me.

But I did get rejected from a huge number of schools. I'm inclined to believe it was my GPA that was the problem, not my transcript count.

Another option MAY BE to take Physics II online. That's what I ended up being forced to do. You just have to find someone to proctor your tests for you, and my organic professor was happy to do so.

I did it through this place http://econnect.dcccd.edu/econnect/Schedule/Spring/DTC/prefix/PHYS.html

And took it from Dr. Jim Knowles.

Not highly adviseable, but maybe a possibility

I thought online classes were frowned upon based on what I read on this site.

What school did you get accepted to and did they ask you about your online course?

Thanks!!!

My situation was unique in the fact that I had been accepted and planned on taking Physics II at the local U that I did some other pre-req's at, but my work at the time would not allow it...so I cleared this class with DCOM.

Like I said, it's not an ideal situation, but it worked for me. I got tested just like I would have anywhere else, I just had to do a lot of self study, etc...

Before you look too far into it, I would first rule out other possibilities.

By the way were u able to do well on the mcats without taking PHYSics II?
