So, despite my triple checking, I recently discovered on my AMCAS submitted application that I had made a mistake designating one of my activities as medical volunteering when it should have been non-medical. The hazards of not having a mouse I guess.

Now, I figure the best option to change this would be informing the individual schools about the mistake... but my question is this:

Is it even worth it to let the schools know?

I'd just like some opinions on this... I mean, the description makes it pretty clear it is non-medical. I just don't know if it would be seen as a super negative thing calling right after they get my app and pointing out mistakes.

Thanks!

If your description is clear I assume you are fine. I doubt they would hold that against you.

I did literally exactly the same thing last cycle, and I didn't notify any of my schools nor was it ever brought up in any of my interviews.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks everyone!

My gut was telling me it wasn't a huge deal... but medical school applications seem to have a funny habit of giving a megaphone to the little voices of doubt in the back of your head.

I'll plan on leaving it as is based on this consensus haha

If your description makes it clear that it's non medical then you should be fine. I guess you could correct it if it really bothers you, but I don't think it's worth it. Good luck on your app!
