hmm...do you want to attend this school? or did you just apply because you werent sure you would get into an allopathic school?

I'm actually very interested in going here... i see it as a great option. the chair of our department is from australia and is very successful here at UC DAvis... also.. they have a 94% pass rate of the USMLE Step 1 and a 98% pass rate for the USMLE Step 2. I enjoy the atmosphere of australia and if it weren't so far away, I'd probably go there hands down... so yes.. i have a strong interest.. I'm definitely not applying just in case I don't get in somewhere else. I will definitely have to make a decision!

I'm doing a phone interview at a school in Australia... anyone have any pointers????

yes, keep in mind that our winter is actually their summer...strange but true!!

i have done many phone interviews for scholarships and what has helped me is doing a lot of preparation beforehand like any interview. Kind of have some general answers in mind for common questions like your strengths etc. I usually have my resume in front of me as well so that I can briefly refer back to it. A glass of water is great too. Also speak a bit slower than usual and pay attention to annunciation since it's an international call and sometimes it's hard for them to hear you. Another pointer is to wait a second after the interviewer speaks...since you can't see them face to face you don't know if they are finished talking and the last thing you want is to cut your interviewer off. The last thing I found htat worked for me is to "dress the part" I don't do phone interviews in my bunny slippers I'll always dress up even if I'm just in my room because it gives me some extra added confidence. I hope this helps. GOODLUCK! Oz is a beautiful country and if you do go there you'll definitely have a great time!

hi pixy,
Thank you for the advice.. I've been preparing for like a normal interview and I've already been to Oz, so I feel comfortable with geography, climate, the people, etc... so that's all good... but I think I will dress the part.. well maybe not full suit since it's like 100 degrees outside.. I definitely won't wear my PJs!! ANyway, I'm just all nervous they are going to ask me things about Australia and their healthcare system.. or how many people live in Oz.. (these are things I'm not even comfortable talking about in my own damn country) anyway.. wish me luck and please, if you have any more advice.. i'd love to hear it
I'll post when it's over.. it's at about 6:45pm (pac time)

Oh yes.. the one other thing I'm hoping is that this adcom has the "aussie mentality", that is, laid back.. not anal retentive like the US.. it'd be nice to just have a "yarn" with someone about medical scool and why I want to go
