is texas holdem a good or bad activity to list on amcas? Would it be bad to mention in it interviews as a hobby?

I spend alot of time playing it, im buying books about it now too. I guess it is inappropriate huh, dont want them to think im a gambler now!
SGMD1 said:Ugh. Don't get me started on online poker. There was a loosely similar thread about someone mentioning a casino startup on AMCAS and because the legality of online gambling in the United States is up in the air right now...it's almost assuredly not a good idea.
(I am biased though. Personally...I hate the game and had some horrible experiences with it, and while not everyone does...in the long run very few people come out on top. Even some of the seasoned pros have said they have trouble breaking even at the end of the year. I looked at the list of the top 500 finishers at this year's WSOP and I saw maybe 5 names that I recognized. Just my $.02...)

How can a medical school frown upon that? C'mon now guys, I think we take this physician moral high-ground a little too far sometimes. I love poker and I play it when I can, and I'm completely not embarrassed by it. And there are thousands of doctors who also play poker and/or gamble otherwise. I think I might bring it up in an interview if the situation calls for it, and I think the interviewer can handle it and not judge me.

Unfortunately, thurs night isn't good for me since I am going on a lil trip to CEDAR POINT, home of the countries best rollaercoasters. Put it on the back burner til next week then I will "Flop" the nut hand on you....LOL
Except I didn't lose it allSGMD1 said:It was a crazy game of poker.

Def. No Limit if it is Texas Hold 'em. I am open to play all the games as I am proficient in HE, Razz, Omaha, Stud, Draw....
