So I took mine on monday (9/15) but I have been too busy to write an breakdown...so this is a pre-breakdown to my super breakdown that's in the works 😉
I have a 3.8/3.9, here are the scores:
PAT: 20
RC: 19 (didn't study for)
Bio: 19
QR: 17 (didn't study for so I am surprised)
Ochem: 23
Gchem: 22
so 20/21/20
Biology:
PAT
RC:
Gen Chem:
QR:
Organic Chem:
I took my score sheet to my schools dental school and they offered me an interview invite right away!! 🙂🙂
I took the exam in Lanham, MD...all the Northen VA and DC centers were booked so make sure if your in the DC area to book in advance!!
I am willing to answer any questions, I def know how it feels to be studying, free to PM me 🙂
now to work on the super breakdown...muhahaha😛

Biology:
- AP Cliffs Biology will prepare you for about 85% of the questions, so its a great resource.
- Kaplan biology (including the online stuff) would prepare you for maybe 70%, so I would either use both, or use cliffs if you don't have a lot of time.
- Destroyer helped with 2 questions, but it took like a week to go through three times, so not much payback, only use if you have a looot of time.
- Skim old notes from classes, its amazing how things come back to you.
- Breakdown (keep in mind its different for each version):
- 1 histology slide
- Only ~4 body systems (but very specific!)
- ~1 taxonomy (very simple)
- ~2 embryology
- ~2 ecology
- ~1 genetics (simple..but worded tricky)
- ~4 molecular bio (1 was either u know or u don't)
- the remaining were anything you would find in cliffs and the practice resources you would find
- overall make sure you read questions very closely and don't spend too much time on any 1
PAT
- MUCH HARDER than Crack DAT PAT
- My CDP scores: 23/22/22/21/22...
- The keyholes on CDP are way too simple, I caught mannnny tricks on the real one
- TFE was actually easier on the real thing
- line counting will not work 85% of the time
- instead, look at things that stand out and compare answers
- Hold punching was by far the most difficult I have ever seen
- Warning: there are half folds!
- Cube counting was easy
- beware of tricks and illusions!
- Pattern folding
- eliminate answers and don't be intimidated by hard looking figures, often they are the easiest if you just try!!!
- very easy to eliminate ~2 off the bat and then compare the others
- eliminate answers and don't be intimidated by hard looking figures, often they are the easiest if you just try!!!
RC:
- I decided last minute to search and destroy
- I employed the 2 questions at a time strategy
- basically look at the first 2 and search for them at the same time, instead of going question by question, do 2 at a time
- this needs practice!!! It is very easy to get yourself confused, practice this strategy before using!
- basically look at the first 2 and search for them at the same time, instead of going question by question, do 2 at a time
- Had on average 2 tone questions per passage
- Each about ~12-14 paragraphs (~4-5 sentances/paragraph)
- I only did 2 kaplan RC's, but I found the real DAT to much much easier
Gen Chem:
- Honestly, hard and tricky
- I caught many questions that were veryyy tricky and could easily trick someone
- So, know your concepts COLD.
- COLD, COLD, COLD!
- Only ~5 calculations
- Relatively simple if you had to calculate
- sometimes they would want you only to set it up
- i.e. (X * Y) / (Z)
- the form they ask for is def not that wierd stuff kaplan asks for so don't worry about that
- If you know Kaplan cold, you should be ok in this section.
- Kaplan subject tests are great and full lengths about the same difficulty I would say.
QR:
- Didn't study for this! Was waiting to take a hit but it turned out alright, kinda mad cause I think if I woulda studied I coulda rocked it 😡
- I DO NOT RECOMMEND NOT STUDYING FOR IT--IT WILL HURT YOUR AA!!!
- I was overconfident in my math skills 😛
- I did Kumon as a kid, any Kumon peeps here?? 😀😉
- I was overconfident in my math skills 😛
- Best 3 pieces of advice
- The word problems are made to look difficult but they are not!!! They are not harddddddd!!!
- do some practice with them and you will realize how easy they are, just made to look hard
- dont miss out on easy points!!!
- do some practice with them and you will realize how easy they are, just made to look hard
- Turn things in ALGEBRAAAAAAAA
- So many problems (especially word problems!) could be turned into algebraic equations and easily solved for, just practice and you will see what I mean
- When guessing, guess smart.
- even if you don't know whats going on, you can still eliminate several answer choices, so guess smart!
- The word problems are made to look difficult but they are not!!! They are not harddddddd!!!
Organic Chem:
- Not bad at all, nothing too difficult or out of the ordinary
- Reactions were at most 2 or so steps
- Know the basics:
- SN1/2, E1/2
- what oxidizes and what reduces
- ortho/meta/para
- alkanes/alkenes/alkynes
- nothing off the wall really
- Nothing came up about carbohydrates or amino acids (at least this version)
- Destroyers ochem is a waste of time
- If you know kaplan cold you should prepared
