How many of you when checking for thyroid, request a whole thyroid panel? only TSH? about when monitoring on synthroid, do you only check TSH?

It depends on what you're doing. TSH is a great screening test while T4 is needed to confirm. If I have high suspicions, I'll get the whole panel up front, if I'm just screening to screen, then I'll only order a TSH. But keep in mind, TSH is only for Primary thyroid disorders, if you suspect a secondary cause, you'll still need further testing.
