Took the DAT in October and having been searching through the forum for quite a while ( Need to know if I even have a chance). GPA is a 3.41 overall, 3.38 science. DAT scores:
PAT 20
RC 20
GC18
Bio16
OC 14
QR 15
TS 16
AA 17

I know that Orgo is really low, but I just wanted to know if anyone knows if someone got in with a low score like this!?!?!?!

Looks like a retake... your TS is below the average and your GPA is about average. Boost up your DAT scores next time and you should be good.

It all depends on the school that you're applying to. With those scores, you will get an acceptance somewhere, it just may not be the school of your choosing.

i think you should retake. since it sounds like you're not applying this cycle, you can study over winter and take it sometime next semester (you need to wait 3 months). it would make you a stronger applicant and it'll save you a lot more money and time than applying, not getting in, and having to reapply next cycle.

You should retake. With your GPA, I would try to score atleast an AA of 19 and TS of 20. Take a bunch of practice tests and study up on your ochem and you'll do awesome! TS of 16 is going to really hurt your chances.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't retake the DAT. I think that you should retake. However, if you had no choice and you had your bad against the wall and absolutely had apply this cycle, I'm pretty sure that you'd get an acceptance offer somewhere.

But for right now, go ahead and retest.

I don't want to seem like I'm bashing you predent guy, but I don't agree with this.

You're more likely to get auto-rejected... rather than accepted somewhere with multiple low scores (14's, 15's, 16's... yikes :[ )

You should really retake.

I have a similar situation like u, but mine was mostly 17 in bio and chem, 19 in OC, 19 in reading, 20 in PAT and 17 in RC. Last year only 1 interview-buffalo, this year none so far yet. At the beginning i though it might be because i took sept that y the low interview invite, but from how it going now i definitely see the need to retake the DAT. My GPA is similar to ur too

That's what I said... I concur with you.

It looks doubtful with those stats. Three below avg scores...2 being core sciences....doesn't look very good at all. And paired with an avg GPA.....changes are very very slim.

I'd say to spend a lot more time studying and retake the DAT to up the science scores!

Your username hints at the possibility that you're an URM. Might as well apply if that's the case...

Apply! You never know what may happen...I know someone who got accepted last year with scores lower than yours. But if you definitely want to increase your chances, you should take it again (unless the rest of your application is phenomenal).

what if cbenitez applies before deadlines and says he will retake dat in the spring. will schools consider his new scores (assuming he improves) for the '09 cycle?

i was considering doing this as my scores are similar but i'm not sure if schools will look at new dat's for 09 cycle if the retake is later than app deadline eventhough my app will be in.

Of course you should retake the exam, especially if was your first time taking the exam, since you have the potential to improve. You have pretty decent GPA/ science GPA (better than mines) and if your DAT scores don't correspond to a good gpa like yours then it weakens your application.
