anyone know of companies that sell such item for dental use in particular? just curious.

I don't know of companies that sell them for dental use only, but most any oil free compressor with a tank will work. Are you planning a service mission?

no... just want something to practice on when i'm not at school. I'd imagine it's probably expensive, but it never harms to ask 🙂

In addition to a portable compressor (very noisy, not good for neighbor relations in apartment living) you would need a portable dental unit and they can be quite expensive. sometimes you can find used dental units on ebay.
