last year I was caught with two of my friends by campus security with possession of drug paraphernalia. they played it off like it was no big deal, and we met with the asst director for student conflict or something like that. she told us that we could complete an online survey about marijuana and it wouldn't considered "formal disciplinary action" by the university and it wouldn't be on our transcripts.

obviously we all completed the survey and the incident isn't on our record anymore.

would you guys consider this IA? should I even bother reporting it if it's never going to show up anywhere and I never really was punished for it?

I would email the director of "student conflict" just following up on the survey and make sure it will not be on your record.

If it isn't on your record, medical schools don't need to know about it. If you do include it, you're only giving others a better chance of acceptance over you

If they told you that it wasn't a formal disciplinary action, then it sounds like you don't have an IA. You should ask just to be sure and order an official copy of your transcript to confirm it isn't there

Thanks for the replies. I went ahead and emailed her to double check.

Just getting paranoid after reading a little bit about IAs here. What happened to me didn't really seem like an IA and really don't want to report it unnecessarily and screw up all my hard work.

I second the advice of getting a copy of your transcript. Even if the person says its not reported, it won't hurt to double check. If it isn't on your transcript don't bother reporting. You are lucky that they didn't put it on your record!!!
