I wanted to check what if this qualifies as an IA or not.

Last semester I was living in an apartment complex owned by my university. Since I couldn’t convince my friends to move to this complex and couldn’t convince my parents to let me live with my friends, I was randomly assigned to live with 3 guys who are all friends in this apartment. These guys like to smoke weed, particularly in our living room, which i’ve never been a huge fan of but I just shut my door and don’t make a huge scene about it.

A few weeks into the semester i’m in class and get an email saying that our building manager found a bong on our coffee table and since he’s a staff member of my school he had to report it to the dean. The reason the building manager had even been able to find it is because one of our roommates left our front door open after he had left for class and everyone else in the apartment was gone. So about a week later we each get called down to meet with a student affairs officer individually. I explain my story to the student affairs officer that I don’t smoke, the bong isn’t mine, one of the guys in the room owns it, I was randomly assigned to this apartment, and that i’m sure on of them will own up to it.

The student affairs officer was really chill, he said he understands and they just wanted to figure out who owns the bong. One of my roommates eventually ended up having to write an essay basically apologizing for the situation and writing about what he learned.

I just wanted to make sure that since I received no disciplinary action that this doesn’t count as an IA. I wasn’t sure if institutional actions count as being charged with someonething and then being found not at fault or only if you are actually given a consequence. Maybe this whole post is a bit neurotic, but I really don’t want a technicality like not reporting this on my AMCAS to keep me out of medical school if this is considered an IA. Thanks!

There's a difference between investigating a situation and taking disciplinary action upon it. I think what happened here was simply the officer investigating a situation and only taking disciplinary action upon the person who confessed.

Double check to make sure that this isn't included in any of your records. You school should have a specific department responsible for conduct violation oversight.
