I'm a resident of Washington State and goes to undergrad in NY. As you know, WA only has one medical school (and a hard one to get into, at that). Would I get some sort of boost by applying to medical schools in NY? And would that apply to private schools as well?

I have a 3.98 cGPA/3.96 sGPA, 516 MCAT. Some of my significant EC's include 2+ years of research with a publication on the way, 2 years of volunteering at a nursing home, leader of service trips abroad, and co-founder and president of a student club.

SUNYs yes, private schools, no. But see gyngyn's post. State schools favor the home team, so one has to be above average.
