Possible SMP Programs?

Hello,

I have applied to Rosalind Franklin's SMP program for Biomedical Sciences. My stats are 3.3 gpa from the University of WI Madison, 29O MCAT, volunteer work in an emergency room, working with disabled children, lab work & internship, good extracurriculars, the usual pre med school stuff. I still have to wait awhile to hear from Rosalind Franklin...think I have a shot?

Anyone know any other SMP programs I have a shot at getting into?

You have a great shot at Rosalind Franklin with those stats, as long as you have taken all of the prereqs.

My stats prior to SMP were 3.26 uGPA (3.2 sGPA) and 31L. I was accepted to SMPs at Loyola, Rosalind Franklin, and Georgetown. When it came down to making a decision, the comparative combination of cost, reputation, and linkage led me to Loyola MAMS. I was very happy there, as were the majority of my classmates. Furthermore, I was accepted to Loyola Stritch SOM, but will be attending the University of Minnesota which was my first choice 🙂

Drexel IMS, Georgetown, and EVMS all come to mind. However I agree that with those stats you might be better off with more undergrad and maybe an MCAT retake. For that matter you might even want to look into just applying broadly to DO schools.

As a general rule an SMP is only worth it if you can't otherwise fix you app within a year. Otherwise it's not saving you any time and it adds stress, risk, and cost. With a 3.3 a one year fix might be achievable.
