Hi all,

First i want to thank all of you for giving your successive opinions. It is greatly appreciated from my part. I am going to begin my preparation for the DAT very soon. I am only 20 years old and will probably graduate at 21. WIth this said, i do not have too much of a hurry. Now the question that i would like to ask arises from my fall 2011 plans. I have already finished my Bios and General chems and will be doing organic 2 on the fall. Now, the question is: would it look too silly to take only orgo 2 in the fall and prepare for the DAT... thats it no more credits, just orgo 2 and DAT preparation? I have a very strong general science background but i want to score outstanding on the DAT. I wanted to hear some opinions regarding this idea of a single class semester. Will it affect me? or do you guys think is a good approach given my age and opportunity to have the luxury to do that? or do you guys think is not necessary?

THank you all for your time!

How is your overall and science GPA so far? If it is a 3.5+, I don't think schools will look down on the fact that you are taking only one class. However, I don't think you'd need to take an entire semester to just study for the DAT, it's something you can do during your summer break as well. You can take some non-science classes as well that you may be interested in and still make plenty of time to study for the DAT.

I graduated at 21 with a double major in bio and chem by decreases my time in undergrad to 3 years - taking classes during the summer each year and 18+ Credits every semester.. The semester before taking my DAT I took 20 credit hours and still did well in school and on the DAT and got in Dec 1. I think you can do it without decreasing your course load bc that looks pretty terrible on a transcript. just my 2 cents

students who take 1 very part-time semester aren't putting themselves at any sort of disadvantage ESPECIALLY when they have a good reason to do so (studying for DAT).

But in general, 1 light semester isn't going to make a difference.
