I know that the AAMC tests are available to purchase online, but I feel that I'll be needing a lot more practice aside from those. I'm taking the test in January. Does anyone know where I can buy just CBT full length practice tests? I took Kaplan, but I'm not eligible for their Higher Score Guaranteed program so I lost all my access to the online material including their practice tests, unless I want to pay $500 to renew it. Is it worth the $500 to pay for just the Kaplan tests again?

Berkeley Review has three tests available and are highly regarded. Gold Standard also has some tests, but not many people talk about them. Additionally, there are tests available in test prep books. For instance, Kaplan and TPR have books with FLs. I think there might be some books of Kaplan and TPR that only have practice FLs.

Right now, I think Gold Standard has ten and Berkeley Review has three (although I got an email from the boss a while back that it would be seven for 2009 exam dates). For the seventeen CBTs, it will run about $350 total.

Thanks so much for the info! I'm doing the ExamKrackers 10-week program so I'll be doing the AAMC tests along with those, and then I think I'll use the Berkeley tests in the last few weeks after I finish ExamKrackers. As for that home stretch before the actual test, how would you all suggest taking the test? Like every other day, or twice a week? I'll have about 3 weeks to just do practice exams.

The Gold Standard ones are actually good for practice - the unofficial consensus (from what I've read on other forums) is that they are a bit harder than AAMC - take that with a grain of salt. I consistently scored 8-10 on each section of their tests and scored 11's on the real thing.

About how to use them, I'd say do one every other day, to give yourself time to go over the parts that you didn't do so well on...

Are the BR exams very good for practice? I have heard the only bad thing about BR is their website. 🙂

The website is pretty bad, although back in 199-something when they made it, I'm sure it was all the rage. Luckily the exams are on a completely different site that is dedicated just to those exams.

I've taken a few of the exams just to see what they were like, and I really liked their layout and difficulty. They make you think, but aren't tricky and based on random facts. You can get most of the answers from the passage, but not without a little thought.

Three questions about the BR review tests.

Are they printable?
How long do you have access to them?
Can they be taken more than once?

Never tried to pring them, so I'm not sure.

Access is supposed to be 45 days (to encourage you to take them close to your test date), but they give extensions liberally.

You can take them a thousand times each if you so desire, but there is a computer usage restriction. If you go over the limit of computers accessing the account, it automatically shuts down your account and they are pretty adamant about not resetting your account after such activity.
