Possible to switch residencies

Ok I'm an intern. I was content first month, but I'm increasingly thinking I need to switch residency programs. Is this possible? and what do I need to do to achieve it? Tho it seems like we're locked in at discretion of PD from what I understand.

It's definitely possible - I know people who have done it. Regarding the PD issue, yes, you are correct - if you are actively searching to switch programs and have even been offered a position at another program, you will ultimately need your PD to be on board with it and give you their blessing. That said, most PDs don't want unhappy residents and if you have a good reason for switching (ie to be with your wife/husband, etc) then it is generally not a problem.
