Damn I was hoping it was a job where you get to punch CRNAs in the face all day.

It's in Alaska and it's possibly the "best job in the country!?" Are you daft man?

It’s a little low. 6.5 weeks PTO, 2 weeks CME, 11 holidays, and when you work the weekend, you get 6 post call days. So I get about 12-15 post call weeks.

So 20-25 weeks off per year? That seems good to me.

But the Gaswork listing says 14MDs. How many MDs are on call each weekend?

And do the 30 CRNAs work independently?

CRNAs are independent.

1 MD on home call each night with two CRNAs in house on Monday-Thursday. 2 MDs on call in house Friday-Sunday. One MD is in house 7 am-7 pm. The other MD is in house 7 pm- 7am with a CRNA in house as well.

You can choose to have more or less weekend call. I have chosen more than average so I get the extra post call weeks.

2015-2018 called and wants their gaswork ad for what great job meant

Oh my. The times have changed.

I’m sorry. I’m sure the workload isn’t bad. I believe you. But to critique the ad

1. Compensation is slightly above ($50-75k) for what I can get in Florida in better weather and same no state income tax based on 40 hours and 8 weeks off. And they are having a hard time filling even those job in Florida off 500k. I’m being honest.
and yes. That’s excluding a similar 50-100k sign on bonus. Over 2 m-3 years. So the bonus are the same or similar. Unless your 70k sign on is for one year?

2. Vacations is below average. But i think you wrote a typo when you said you get 6 post call days off. You probably meant 6 additional post call weeks off. In addition to your regular 6.5 weeks off

But like I tell everyone. That’s the growing trend to be on beeper call for one week and be “off post call beeper week” on the side. In addition to their base weeks off.

That’s the key selling point to any job these days.

500k/40 hr work weeks plus 20 weeks off.

What I don’t understand is why are the crnas taking the easier Monday -Thursday in house if they are independent. Those are the much easier calls.

Anyways. Good luck.

Not a typo. You get 6 post call days after working the weekend. But granted, you already worked your 80 hours in those 8 days, which is why we have the 6 post call days.

It’s like a week off.

If you work 6 weekends. You get 6 extra weeks odd. Fair enough

My friend has similar setup in Georgia trauma center. They get around 650k with 15 weeks off and work 40-45 hours a week including call hours. It’s literally in their contract. Anything over 45 hrs is billed at $300/hr as well. I think there is a similar job in South Carolina as well. They are becoming a dime a dozen.

That’s what I mean when I say the market has caught up with what used to be considered “great job”.

So your practice biggest selling point is that is a “slow” pace hospital. And not super busy. And that is still a selling point to recruit. I get it.

But the compensation isn’t going to recruit people the location is brutal (for 95% of us)

Yeah, but it’s sitting your own cases and you only work 40 hours per week. And its like the pace of a VA.
Most hospitals are VA paced.
And most contracts are based on 40-45 hours. 575k is still subpar, hence why the need to recruit.
650k and 15 weeks is what I would expect at minimum for a job in Alaska.

LOL I can see why you left it out initially.
Are you said if I work the first weekend of the month, I get the entire second week off, and then come back the third and fourth weeks?

Honestly thought there would be a higher premium for having to live in Alaska. Isn't the cost of living there very high also?

Correct, you would work Monday-Monday the first week, have Tuesday-Sunday off the second week, then work M-F on weeks 3 and 4.

In this scenario, you do have a good advantage of having an additional 12 weeks off, assuming 1 weekend call per month.
This is actually a good benefit.

The job is probably ok in a somewhat desirable location but I think you’re gonna have to up the game for Alaska

I wonder if this group operates out of the big Providence Anchorage facility. For years, that hospital gave the anesthesia contract to one dude who farmed out the work to locums. I don't believe there were any clinical anesthesia employees working there. It was all locums anesthesiologists and travel CRNA's. Why this dude got the contract and not form a permanent group with the stipend? Probably because he had leverage in the form of naked pictures of some administrator(s) or made generous kick back payments to them.
