Hello!

Besides the Certiphi background check, do medical schools/AMCAS perform any other checks into a student's background?

Also, I haven't received a Certiphi notification yet, do they release in batches?

Thank you!

Some schools use other methods, and can do so at any time throughout your education.

I received my Certiphi notification today actually. It's funny because last week I ran their personal student background check because I'm irrationally anxious.

You ran it yourself? I didn't know you could do that. Did you have to pay?

Yes, it's around $150 I believe.

Holy crap lol.
I mean it would be nice to have ease of mind. I've never been arrested or anything, but I've had run-ins with the police before: noise complaint for a party, speeding, etc.

But I don't think I'm willing to pay 150

Yeah for most applicants it is a ridiculous expense, but I can see how that peace of mind would be well worth the expense for anyone who has had blemishes on their record in the past

It was $60 for me. $150 is the maximum. But like I said, I was being irrationally anxious.

From the original Certiphi email when you submit amcas.
"For a fee, you may procure your own report from Certiphi Screening, Inc. in advance of the AMCAS-facilitated report by going tohttps://www.applicationstation.com/home/cal.asp?rc=CERTAP2016." You have to use the CERTAP2016 application code.

I was looking into alternatives. GoodHire seemed reasonable. You can also see if your state has a digitized criminal record search.

After they do the background search, you have 10 days ( I think) to review/dispute it before it's released to medical schools, so I wouldn't bother doing a separate one myself.
