I have been accepted into medical school this year, but I am required to be out of the country until late July of 2005. Will there be any mandatory preparations that require me to be in the country? My parents have DPOA for me while I am away, so I'm fairly sure they can take care of financial aid.

Thanks!

I'd DEFINITELY call up the med. school to which you've been accepted to confirm--you don't wanna take any chances here.

Oh they realize that I'm in Japan because we had the interview over the telephone and they sent me an acceptance through email. I guess the best policy would probably be to call them and ask them any questions though, eh.

Your absolute, #1 responsibility is to make sure that they can get in touch with you when they need to. As school approaches, it's a fair bet that they'll need to mail you certain items periodically, but there might be a significant transit delay since you're overseas. I agree with calstudent. Call them up and make sure they understand the situation, even to the point of putting some kind of reminder in your file. If you can, try to stay in contact via phone/email with someone stateside who's going to be in your class so you can get a heads-up when things come in the mail, etc.
